Can nuclear fusion deliver more energy than it consumes? 

Nuclear fusion technology could produce electricity with no greenhouse gas emissions, no nuclear waste, and a far lower chance of nuclear accidents. But no one has developed a nuclear fusion reactor that produces more energy than it uses. Additionally, the rare isotopes of hydrogen which power the reactor are very difficult to find in nature. Progress is being made towards a reactor with a positive energy output as experimental reactors get progressively larger and produce stronger magnetic fields, increasing their efficiency. In order to ensure that this potentially climate saving technology becomes a reality we must continue to find streams of funding for the construction of new fusion technologies.
